TEST PLAN

Test plan is a document which drives all future testing activities. Test plan is prepared by Test manager(20%), Test Engineer(20%) and by Test Lead(60%).


There are 15 sections in a test plan. We will look at each one of them below,

1)  Objective:
      It gives the aim of preparing test plan i.e, why are we preparing this test plan.

2)  Scope:
      We decide what are the features to be tested.

3)  Testing Methodologies: 
      Different type of methodologies to test the applications.

4)  Approach To Application: 
      We decide how to prioritize the testing features and the flow 

5)  Assumptions:
     When writing test plans, certain assumptions would be made like technology,                   resources    etc.

6)  Risks:
      If the assumptions fail, risks are involved

7)  Contingency or Mitigation plan: 
       It is back up plan to handle the project if any test engineer quits from the company.

8)  Roles and Responsibilities: 
      Every one is assigned with respect to with Roles their responsibilities.

9)  Schedules: 
     To  plan to meet the requirement.

10) Defect Tracking: 
      To analyse the defects and track  made by the developers . 

11) Test Environment : 
       It different environments to be tested with respect to hardware and software. 

12) Entry and Exit area : 
       It is the strategies to get defect less product.  

13) Test Automation : 
       Here we decide how to use Automation Tool

14) Deliverable s : 
       The documents to be delivered to the client.

15) Templates : 
       The templates used by Test Engineers to maintain Uniformity.
